Dear TLBAA Members,

During the holiday season, I tend to reflect and count my abundant blessings. Family and friends, along with the good fortune of being associated with the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America and the Texas Longhorn breed for over 24 years, come readily to mind.

Beyond the bounds of kinfolk and old acquaintances, I look at the TLBAA and its members as my extended family and richly rewarding friends. No part of my TLBAA family do I respect or hold in higher esteem than my fellow TLBAA staff members.

Dedicated and loyal to the TLBAA and its purpose, this committed staff works tirelessly on your behalf. I am proud to be associated with such a talented group and thank the good Lord every day for their service.

Fortunately, my blessings within the TLBAA extend richly beyond the staff to all of the friends I have made and enduring relationships established. Counted among those friends and relationships is the TLBAA Board of Directors and their Chairman Joel Lemley. Whenever an organization suffers a disruption in leadership, the possibility for turmoil and dissent ensues. Gratefully, Joel and the TLBAA Board of Directors have demonstrated a professional common sense approach to meeting each challenge. Their leadership is a blessing each of us share.

Blessings in my life abound and fill me with a single heartfelt wish for each of you, which is the pure joy of rekindling the simple pleasures of life.

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Larry Barker

Weekly Hay Report from the Texas Department of Agriculture

Compared to last week: The hay market remains slow, as hay is becoming even harder to find. Most hay has been previously contracted out, which leaves very little for those who are still looking for hay to fill their quota. Trade and demand remain moderate. The State of Texas Department of Agriculture has the Hay and Grazing Hotline set up for buyers and sellers. The number is 1-877-429-1998. The Web site for TDA is www.agr.state.tx.us. For a hay report from a state other than Texas please click here.
