Burkham’s Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

Zane and Nancy Burkham of Hat Brand Ranch, Lancaster, TX, will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on February 16, 2007. The Burkhams’ love affair began in Dallas, TX, in 1956 when Zane, who worked as a milkman for Borden’s Dairy, was smitten with a charming high school girl named Nancy Gelnett. As legend has it, the Gelnett home was on Zane’s route and he fabricated reasons to make extra visits to the home in an effort to meet Nancy.

The Burkhams were married in Ardmore, OK, and resided for many years in Dallas, TX, where they raised their 3 sons, Doug, Joel, and Paul. Zane has always said that every good bull out produces himself and if you have seen TLBAA member, Doug Burkham, you will know what he means.

Zane, a retired commercial construction contractor and Nancy, a homemaker joined the TLBAA and started breeding Registered Texas Longhorns in 1988. Their goal is to move back to the Burkham family farm located in Dike, TX. The farm, which was one of the earliest Grade A dairies in Hopkins County, has been in the Burkham family for nearly 100 years. If you would like to send your congratulations and well wishes to Zane and Nancy please mail them to 1824 S Houston School Rd, Lancaster, TX, 75146 or email the Burkham's at nancyrae1824@earthlink.com.
