At the 2007 Fort Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo, 76 TLBT youth won Autobahn Scholarship money. The scholarship monies were awarded as follows: There was $45,000 distributed through 35 classes for $1,250 per class, 1st - $350, 2nd - $300, 3rd - $250, 4th - $200 and 5th - $150.

Additionally, $5,000 was awarded for showmanship; there were eight groups with 1st place winning $312.50, 2nd - $187.50 and 3rd - $125. The youth show had 326 entries for a record Texas Longhorn show at the 2007 Fort Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo. TLBAA Member’s Longhorn Photo Published in Cowboys and Indians Annual Photo Contest

TLBAA member Molly St. Hilarie, Yamhill, OR, recently had a picture of one of her Texas Longhorns published in the Cowboys and Indians Magazine’s Annual Photo Contest. Her photo of a Longhorn with a brilliant full moon at dusk didn’t win the grand prize, but it was one of the select few to be published in the March 2007 issue. Pick up a copy of the March Cowboys and Indians at your local bookstore and take a look at St. Hiliare’s photograph on page 135. Here is a photo, similar to her published work, which she sent to the Trails.

Weekly Hay Report from the Texas Department of Agriculture

Compared to last week: Trading activity remains light. Demand is good and supply is running short. Prices remain steady. Areas that had received snow and ice aren't getting any relief. The snow and ice hasn't yet melted away and they have been experiencing more snow and rain. Farmers are finding it hard to get any work done in the fields with all of the wet conditions. Wheat crops are thriving, with conditions ranging from good to excellent. Pasture and rangeland conditions remain poor to good. Soil moisture is good to surplus. Supplemental feeding continues. The State of Texas Department of Agriculture has the Hay and Grazing Hotline set up for buyers and sellers. The number is 1-877-429-1998. The Web site for TDA is www.agr.state.tx.us.
