TLBAA Member’s Son In Top Five Percent of All Naval Pilots in History
Ensign Tyler Wilson, son of TLBAA Members Gary and Julie Wilson, Burleson, TX, has been added to a prestigious list in the Navy Museum in Pensacola, FL, of the top five percent of all Navy pilots in history.
Gary Wilson relayed the news on a recent visit to the TLBAA office. Gary, who is the official photographer for the World Show Expo, was delighted and very proud of his son’s achievements especially since his son never liked school as a young boy.
Ensign Wilson graduated Officer Training School in late August 2006 and now will be training for another 12 months of carrier certification and then will be assigned his F-18 jet.
Congratulations to Ensign Tyler Wilson for making all of the Longhorn family proud!

TLBAA Members and General Manager Featured in Lexington Herald Ledger
TLBAA Members Aric Myers and Tim Spivey, Salvisa, KY, were featured in an article on the Lexington Herald Ledger Web site about their Drover Ranch and Longhorn breeding operation. The story highlights the genesis of their ranch and states that the men have always had a lifelong dream to own their own cattle company. The Drover Ranch specializes in grass-fed and antibiotic, hormones and steroid free. The two men use their business to promote Longhorn beef, which has been proven to be leaner and healthier than regular red meat.
Also quoted in the article was TLBAA General Manager Larry Barker, whose home state is Kentucky. Barker said in the article that Longhorn beef is in high demand and that a lot of people are looking to buy beef from producers they know.
According to the article, the Drover Ranch is currently working with five other Longhorn breeders in Kentucky to supply Longhorn meat to Good Foods Market and Café in Lexington, KY.
The owners of Drovers Ranch are keeping an eye on the demand and the future looks bright for the production of Longhorn meat in the Bluegrass state.

Drought Conditions Update
Click here for information about the seasonal drought conditions and updated national drought information directly from The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Here is an additional weekly drought monitor from NOAA.
Weekly Hay Report from the Texas Department of Agriculture
Compared to last week: Prices are trending steady to weak in the panhandle on a light test and other areas mostly steady. Trade activity moderate, however areas receiving heavy rain are experiencing limited movement. Demand is moderate in most areas, but reports of light demand in Central, East, and South Texas since heavy rains decrease the quality of available hay, and readily available good to excellent pastures decrease the need for supplemental feeding. Most areas are still having difficulty in carrying out baling operations as rain continues, but some areas in the North, West, and the Panhandle are drying up this week so that hay can finally be harvested. A heavy supply of fair and rained-on hay is available. Dairy and horse quality hay is somewhat scarce but in very good demand.
The State of Texas Department of Agriculture has the Hay and Grazing Hotline set up for buyers and sellers. The number is 1-877-429-1998. The Web site for TDA is www.agr.state.tx.us. For a hay report from a state other than Texas please click here.
