Best of the Best of Texas Sale
There was standing room only at the 12 th annual Best of Texas Sale on July 16, 2005 in Bastrop, TX. The sale and the German-themed party the previous day was sponsored by the Texas Longhorn Breeders of the Gulf Coast affiliate.

Harvey and Evelyn Rasmussen, Houston, TX, were the sale chairpersons. Bill Sayre was the auctioneer and TLBAA’s Larry Barker provided the commentary.

The sale brought in $242,625 and averaged $1,628.36 with 149 lots.
Barbara and Billy C. Hudson and Chris Schaper
Bill Hudson of Hudson Longhorns, Purvis, MS, was the volume buyer, taking home $19,900 worth of quality Texas Longhorn cattle. His father, Billy C. Hudson spent $16,400 on Longhorns, and Tom Christopher wasn’t far behind taking home $16,250 worth of cattle. Vicki Bondon, Kansas City, MO, bought $14,800 worth of Longhorns, while Larry and Deborah Stewart of Lazy L Longhorns, Lampasas, TX, took home $12,500 worth of cattle.

Tom Christopher, Coppell, TX, purchased the high-selling lot from Hudson Longhorns for $11,500. Christopher is now the proud owner of Pacific Dance Card. Lazy L Longhorns took home the second high-selling lot, B.C. Lucky Lady, from Bow Carpenter, San Antonio, TX, for $10,400. There was a three-way tie for the place of the third high-selling lot between Hudson Longhorns, Vicki Bondon and Bow Carpenter. Hudson Longhorns purchased Carol Ann 182 from Frank Anderson for $7,000, while Vicki Bondon bought Loving from Charlie and Dana Buenger, Crawford, TX, for $7000. Bow Carpenter bought Delta Flamingo from Hudson Longhorns for $7,000.
