Fun at the NWLA Summer Show
Not only was the NWLA Summer Show on July 9, 2005, in Salem, OR, the first show of the season, it was an exciting one.
Sheryl Johnson was the show chairwoman and Leo Omlin of Manteca, CA was the judge.
Almendra Longhorns was named the Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor. A total of $1,000 was added to regular premiums to distribute to contestants. All Grand Champions received belt buckles, all Reserved Grand Champions received Longhorn pottery and all class champions were awarded sacks of feed.
“We had a great show,” said Sheryl Johnson.
In the Youth Show, Lacy Larson exhibited the Grand Champion Female and the Senior Champion Female, RC Lady Nightingale. Shelby St. Hilaire exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Female and the Reserve Senior Champion Female, RC Waltz Across Texas.
Shelby St. Hilaire exhibited the Grand Champion Trophy Steer, ST Smarty.
The Herdsmanship Award was given to Ryan Johnson; the Sportsmanship Award was presented to Shelby St. Hilaire, and Lacy Larson received the High Point Award.
In the Haltered Division, the Grand Champion Female, OB Wichita Ms Kitty, was also the Senior Champion Female and is owned by Richard and Linda Spooner. The Reserve Grand Champion Female and the Reserve Senior Champion Female was C9 Classy Gal, owned by Richard and Linda Spooner.
Grand Champion Mature Female was Anitas Midnight Ranger, owned by Richard and Linda Spooner.
Grand Champion Bull and the Senior Champion Bull was Almendra Ferdinand, owned by Almendra Longhorns. The Reserve Grand Champion Bull and the Reserve Senior Champion Bull was OB Red River Bandit, owned by Richard and Linda Spooner.
In the Non–Haltered Division, the Grand Champion Female, Emperors Classic Debut, was first named the Senior Champion Female and is owned by Robert and Carmen Larson, Tillamook, OR. The Reserve Grand Champion Female, Almendra Abigail, was first named the Reserve Senior Champion Female and is owned by Almendra Longhorns, Manteca, CA. The Junior Champion Female was Almendra Iris, owned by Almendra Longhorns, and the Reserve Junior Champion Female was J5 Hope’s Sweet Deal, owned by Ed and Sheryl Johnson, Molalla, OR.
Ed and Sheryl Johnson own the Grand Champion Mature Female, J5 Tinkerbell, and the
Reserve Grand Champion Mature Female, J5 Miss Kitty.
The Grand Champion Trophy Steer and the Senior Champion Trophy Steer was Jack Frost, owned by Ed and Sheryl Johnson, Molalla, OR. The Reserve Grand Champion Trophy Steer and the Reserve Senior Champion Trophy Steer was Rafter B Lex’s Shadow, owned by Boyd and Judy Bambrough, Taylor, UT. The Junior Champion Steer was Ox-Bow Dallas-Fort Worth and is owned by Richard and Linda Spooner, Kennewick, WA.
Almendra Longhorns owns the Produce of Dam, Almendra Camelia and the Get of Sire, LYZ Done Deal.
West Texas State Fair
Entries for the West Texas State Fair are due Aug. 19, 2005 in the TLBAA office. The Fair will be on Sept. 13, 2005 in Abilene, TX.
Move in is on Sept. 12, 2005.
