Benefit for Kara and Allan Cranfill’s Son
There will be a benefit for Joshua Cranfill (son of Ag Teachers Allan and Kara Cranfill) at the Pasadena Fairgrounds on Sunday, June 25th. Allan is the Ag Teacher at Pasadena High School. His wife Kara is also an Ag Teacher, and former NASA Longhorn Project Adviser, but is currently employed with Fresh Country fundraisers. Both of the Cranfills were Ag teachers with the Clear Creek Independent School District.
The Cranfills’ 6 month old son has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and will undergo 10 months of chemotherapy. Joshua is being treated at Texas
Children's Hospital in Houston.
The benefit will include a team roping, team penning, mutton busting, BBQ plate lunch, silent and live auctions, raffle, and various children activities. Anyone wanting to volunteer or donate can call Philip Lyles at Pasadena Memorial H.S. or email him at: plyles@pasadenaisd.org.
TLBT member Laura Harding seen riding steer in Ride Texas Magazine
There's an interesting picture in the July issue (just hit newsstands this week) of "Ride Texas" magazine: www.ridetexas.com. The magazine is a motorcycle travel magazine with stories about scenic places to visit and roads to ride in Texas. This issue has a feature story about Wimberley, TX. A photo of Laura Harding riding Ol' Sarge, taken by the author during the 2004 July 4th parade in Wimberley is featured in the article. So the Hardings have a 'biker chick' and a 'biker steer' in the family!
Intensive Writing in the footsteps of Western-Fiction Legend
Fans of Lonesome Dove, Leaving Cheyenne and The Last Picture Show know the superb authorship that is in every chapter of Larry McMurtry’s work. This summer a few writers from the University of North Texas will get a chance to study the best in Western-Fiction in Archer City, TX, June 10 through July 27 in the historic Spur Hotel. George Getschow, conference writer-in-residence and instructor of the course will take under his wing a herd of promising writers to study in the footsteps of McMurtry.
