Lazy L Ranch Tour: Fun, Fun, Fun in the Lampasas Sun

With the beautiful Texas Hill Country as a back drop, the ranch tours kicked off on Friday with a preview of the Texas Longhorns up for sale on Saturday. For dinner everyone savored excellent Texas BBQ and genuine country music performed by Jon Wolfe.

Weekly Hay Report from Texas Department of Agriculture

USDA-TX Dept of Ag Market News Weekly Texas Hay Report - Fri Jun 30, 2006 Compared to last week: Trade activity moderate. Demand good to very good on a fairly limited supply of hay. Prices remain firm. Moisture continues to be a major concern over the state. Recent rains have been spotty and rather scarce with some areas receiving enough rain for flooding conditions but other areas have received little or no rainfall. Hot, windy days have usually depleted moisture quickly even in those parts that received measurable rainfall. Supplemental feeding continues but some cattle producers have dispersed or cut-back numbers in their herds. Inventory of hay limited and some producers sold out as quickly as bailing finishes before storing in barn. Some livestock producers have been forced to find hay supplies out of their normal marketing areas or even out of state in order to fill needs. The Texas Department of Agriculture has a Hay and Grazing Hot Line set up for buyers and sellers, the number is 1-877-429-1998. The web site for TDA is http://www.agr.state.tx.us/.
