Keeping the Longhorn Family In Touch

Members' Grandson Safe At Home On Leave From Iraq

Over the weekend, Paige and Greg Evans, Colorado Springs, CO, sent the Trails news about their grandson returning home from Iraq. Here is the email they sent to the E-Trails

Yesterday, July 15th, our grandson, Alex Asher, arrived at Whisper Crossing Ranch, in route to Fort Carson, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Specialist Alex Asher with his Grandfather Greg Evans.

He's returning from back to back duty in Iraq, then Afghanistan.  He was shot once and had to have surgery on a broken ankle.

As his convoy was leaving Baghdad, he was blown 30 feet out of the truck by a roadside bomb.  On impact with the ground, he suffered a busted collarbone.  He was arming a .50 caliber gun at the time.

As if that wasn't enough, Alex came down with Malaria in Afghanistan--not the place to be sick with anything--and lost about sixty pounds.  He's willing to go to war for his country.  He averaged close to 1000 miles to make it to our ranch and was with his father, our son Scott at the eight o'clock service this morning. He was greeted by dozens of folks who had been praying for him.  They've vowed not to stop praying because Alex will be heading back to Iraq in four months.  We are so pleased he is our grandson, so proud of this young American.

Thank you Paige and Greg Evans for getting the word to us about your grandson, Alex. And we, at the TLBAA and the Trails, thank him for his noble service.
