Weekly Texas Hay Report
Compared to last week: Hay prices generally steady. Trade and demand moderate to good. Temperatures dropped this week providing a break from the 100 degree plus temperatures that most areas throughout the state were experiencing.
The cooler temperatures allowed for an increased movement of hay in areas. A larger portion of the state is reporting dry conditions, mostly in East and
Central Texas, and livestock producers are beginning to supplement feed and build hay inventories heading into fall. High quality horse and dairy type alfalfa continues to be in short supply with good demand. There continues to be large volumes of rain damaged hay on the market. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.
