Gerald "Jerry" Martin Ellis
Gerald “Jerry” Ellis, owner of Ellis Performance Horses at Benbrook, TX, died unexpectedly at his training arena on Tuesday, November 25. Ellis was the son of TLBAA members Lee and Dan Tisdale, Bowie, TX.
Born December 30, 1956, Ellis had been a horseman and trainer for a number of years, and had trained or shown numerous World Champions in Open, Amateur and Youth in the Pinto Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, and the National Reining Horse Association.
Ellis made quite an impact on the horse world. He was a supporter of several APHA affiliates and judged shows all over the country.
Since 1986 Ellis Performance Horses has been dedicated to developing a program accessible to the Amateur and Youth wanting to get started in the performance horse business. Ellis had numerous clients from all walks of life, but what set Jerry apart was that he also became a good friend. One client of over 30 years remarked that Ellis’s honesty and integrity was what he was most cherished for.
A Celebration of Life for Jerry Ellis will be held December 11, 2008 at Ellis Performance Horses, 9700 McDaniel Road, Benbrook, TX. There will be a pot-luck dinner at 12:00 noon followed by a Celebration Service at 1:30 p.m.

In addition to the Tisdales, Ellis is survived by his wife, Kim, two sons and a daughter, and a wealth of family and friends.
