Horn Showcase Fever!

Get ready for the 2005 Fall Horn Showcase Events. The excitement will be bigger and the award banquet will be more spectacular. Even the lengths of horns are sure to be even larger than what they measured at last year’s event.

From Nov. 10-12, more than 400 Texas Longhorns, bringing about 40,000 inches worth of horn with them, will stampede toward DFW for the biggest horn measuring contest in the world at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The 2005 Fall Horn Showcase determines which Longhorn has the most horn power of all the most notable Texas Longhorns in the industry.

The Horn Showcase Sale will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 where 138 of the biggest-horned Longhorns will be up for auction.

Clone History has Been Made

The first Texas Longhorn clone to be cloned is on the ground and is doing well! Born on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, the Day’s Feisty Fannie clone’s owners Rex and Vicki Mosser can hardly contain their excitement.

Longhorns in Lufkin Parade

A Texas Longhorn helped celebrate Veteran’s Day in Lufkin, TX. The Longhorn was part of the parade in downtown Lufkin honoring our American heroes.

"I learned that all blood is red and I've learned that every man and women that serves our country is a hero by definition," said Texas Representative Jim McReynolds to KTRE.com.

According to the station, local vets enjoyed every minute of the parade.

"It's hard to say in words how much I really do appreciate it, because they did come out and show their respect," said veteran Bill Love.

Longhorns Take Ownership Over Dallas Streets

100 Longhorn steers rambled down Main Street in Dallas, TX on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005.

The cattle drive represents the traditional opening of Texas Stampede, three days of professional rodeo and concerts at American Airlines Center, according to the Dallas Morning News. The event runs Friday through Sunday.

Tom Perini led the cattle drive on a Chuckwagon. Perini is famous for being a cowboy cook from Buffalo Gap who has taken his chuck wagon cuisine all the way to the White House.

"Back in the old days, the chuck wagon preceded the cattle on the cattle drive," Perini told the Dallas Morning News. “ They'd get going early in the day, and the drovers would try to tell them where to go to find water and wood so they could set up and start their work.”
