Carol "Diane" Tadewald

Posted: Thursday, Dec 16th, 2010 For The Herald

Carol "Diane" Tadewald lost her long battle with Merkel Cell Skin Cancer on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, in Casper, Wyoming. She was surrounded by loving family and friends.

Diane was born Aug. 12, 1956 to Doyle and Nadine Johnson in Longmont, Colo. Diane grew up in Niwot, Colo. and attended school there, graduating from Niwot High School in 1974. She then worked at the High School Library until 1976 when she followed her heart and moved to Wyoming to find her "cowboy". That cowboy has been the love of her life for 33 years.

On November 18, 2010 R. J. Pickle, CPA after counting all of the eligible ballots and certifying that the results were accurate, presented confirmation of the 2011 Division B Board nominations for the TLBAA.

The results are as follows:

Region 7 Director
Donnie Taylor, Huntington, TX

Region 8
Bernard Lankford, Weatherford, TX

Region 9
Robert Richey, San Angelo, TX

Region 10
Darlene Aldridge, Somerville, TX
Gary Bowdoin, Crawford,TX
Jay Faske, Somerville, TX

Region 11
Larry Smith, Spring, TX

Region 12
Steven Zunker, Luling, TX

At Large Director
Brent Bolen, Lufkin, TX
Darlene Aldridge, Somerville, TX
Lana Hightower, Van, TX

The entire 2010 Board of Directors received notification of the nomination results from R. J. Pickle, CPA.  Each Nominee has been contacted by Chairman Steven Zunker and agreed to serve on the Board of Directors.

Darlene Aldridge was given the opportunity to choose between running for Region 10 Director or At Large Director; she informed Chairman Zunker that she would run for Region 10 Director.

Because there are three nominees for the Region 10 Director, active and lifetime members in Region 10 will be receiving an official ballot. The ballot will be mailed no later than November 30, 2010 and must be received by the CPA firm of R. J. Pickle by December 24, 2010 to be counted.

Because there are no opponents for Regions 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 or for At Large, these nominations stand as elected Directors for Division B and will be installed during the General Membership Meeting on January 14, 2011 in Fort Worth, Texas. Congratulations to those Directors.

Show Rule Changes

July 20, 2010, the TLBAA Board of Directors approved the rule change as follows, to be added to page 42 of the show handbook.

1.   Affects Breeder/Fitter Judges
If a Judge, judges an Open Division, Haltered or Non-Haltered Show they forfeit all Hall of Fame Points on their animals for that show season.

2.   No person shall be allowed to Judge any cattle they have shown or fitted during the current show season.

3.  No person shall Judge cattle carrying their own brand.

4.  The World Show Committee has the authority to suspend or remove any Judge from the approved Judges List until further notice for unethical conduct or a rule violation.

Show Rules and Regulations

The TLBAA Board of Directors approved the Trails Cover Format policy during the October 16, 2010 Board of Directors Meeting. The policy will begin with the January 2011 cover.

POLICY ON Trails Cover Format
Approved October 16, 2010

Need For Policy/Discussion

The cover makes the first and most important impression to the reader and is the most valuable page of the magazine. Because the 2009 Board of Directors requested that the Trails sell covers to increase revenue, it is imperative that a policy on cover format be set in order to keep the best image of the Trails intact.

Policy Proposal

  • Photograph for the cover is vertical and is of the highest quality with a 300 dpi.
  • Trails logo shall not be altered to accomodate a photo, unless it enhances the image of the magazine.
  • Mailing label and bar code are two rectangular shapes beginning at the bottom left hand corner and continuing to the right side will not be moved to accomodate a photo due to mailing policies.
  • The Trails will accept no more than 5 separate photos (one photo is preferred).
  • No copy will be added to the cover to identify animals, events or other promotions unless it is a TLBAA official announcement.
  • All copy regarding the photo(s) on the cover will be placed on the Table of Contents page under the heading “About the Cover”.
  • At least a third of a page within the magazine will be available for the purchaser of the cover to continue with copy regarding the cover if space on “About the Cover” is lacking.
  • The editor in chief and the art director of the Trails will have final approval of covers.
  • By following these guidelines, the purchaser of the cover can be assured that the highest quality of production standards will be used to provide a professional result.
