| WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6, 2007 |
| Upon arrival, TLBT members will need to check in at the TLBAA office in the John Justin Arena to receive stall assignments and sign-up for showmanship. Don't forget, all of the Gold Merit project books are to be submitted and seniors may hand in their Gratuity applications. There is still time to get information on both the Gold Merit and Gratuity by calling the TLBAA office at (817) 625-6241. Any individual or group may apply to have a Youth Herdsman booth in the cattle barn, if space permits. To make your reservations for the limited space, please contact the TLBAA before the entry deadline. We will try to accommodate all who wish to participate. The judging for the Gold Merit will begin at 3:00 pm and everyone is encouraged to watch this impressive contest. TLBT Officers and Directors will hold a meeting immediately following the Gold Merit contest. At 6:00 pm is the Annual Barn Party, bring your appetite. |
| THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 2007 |
| Get your cattle ready at 8:30 am for the ring procedure, which will commence at 8:45 am. At 9:00 am the TLBT opening ceremony will begin and the Youth Affiliate March will proceed. Pee Wee Showmanship is at 9:15 am. The Quiz Bowl also begins at 9:15 am and will continue all day long, so put your thinking caps on and give your best answers. The National Youth Show will begin at 9:30 am. Herdsman booth judging will take place during the day and showmanship will follow the steer classes. Be sure to remember, Hall of Fame points will be added throughout the entire day. |
| FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2007 |
| At 9:00 am the Non-Haltered cattle must have their numbers and be in place for the Non-Haltered Division show, which begins at 9:30 am. At 10:00 am the TLBT Livestock Judging contest will begin. When it is high-noon, get ready, get set for the first TLBT Scavenger Hunt. This will be loads of fun with prizes and surprises! The TLBT General Membership Meeting will begin at 4:00 pm and the Trophy Steer Division will begin at 6:00 pm. |
| SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 2007 |
| Put on your best and be prepared for a fun time at this year's TLBT Awards Banquet, which begins at 5:00 pm in the Brown Lupton Room. The evening will be one of food, fun and festivities as you feast on BBQ, win awards and enjoy listening and dancing to the sounds of Texas Music, following the awards ceremony. |

| QUIZ BOWL | RUN FOR TLBT OFFICE |
| If you know the answers to these questions, or just like a challenge then you will want to be a contestant in the Quiz Bowl. Your knowledge of Texas Longhorns, herd and health management and TLBAA/TLBT history will be put to the test. The multiple-choice test will be Thursday, June 7, during the National Youth Show. Awards will be presented in the same four divisions as showmanship: junior, intermediate, teen and senior. So, put your thinking cap on and ace the test! |
If you want to make a difference for the 2007–2008 show season, run for office. Campaigning for a position is encouraged because it allows the membership to get to know you and understand whom they are voting for in the election. You may campaign during the week of the 2007 World Show Expo. Campaigning is limited to the barn area only; therefore, it will not be allowed in the John Justin Arena. |
| SENIOR GRATUITY | Guidelines for TLBT Office: |
| If you are a senior TLBT member who needs a little help with those upcoming college expenses, call the TLBAA office and ask for a gratuity application. The TLBT awards gratuities annually for students when they meet the following criteria: •Applicants can be any youth member of the TLBT or current age appropriate member of the TLBAA, who is actively working with the Texas Longhorn breed •The applicant must be a high school senior •Candidates must submit their application to the TLBAA office no later than May 1 of each calendar year •An official transcript of his/her high school for grades 9th - 12th must accompany all applications. •Applicants will be reviewed by a committee and applications will be evaluated on a point system in the following four areas: 1. 300 word essay on the topic - “My Career” 2. Membership in the TLBT 3. Service on the board or as an officer of the TLBT 4. The positions available for campaigning are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Parliamentarian and Reporter. • Candidate must be a current member of the TLBT • Candidate must know the TLBAA Handbook. As a TLBT officer, you are an ambassador of the breed and your knowledge of whom you represent is important • Candidate must be committed and know what is expected to fulfill the duties and obligations of the office • Be prepared to devote time and energy to the position. You are representing the great Texas Longhorn breed around the country, so you must be visible and accessible. • Be active in your TLBAA affiliation. The more experience you have, the better • Make yourself known. Campaign for your desired position to the best of your ability. Be creative and include your qualifications, goals, ideas, etc., in your platform. | JUDGING CONTEST | GOLD MERIT |
| Put your judging skills to the test and compete in the TLBT Judging Contest at the National Youth Show! You will only be able to judge as an individual. The age groups for the judging contest are: • Junior - 7 to 9 year old • Intermediate 10 to 12 year old • Teen - 13 to 15 year old • Senior - 16 to 19 year old Judging will be held on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the judging area. There will be four classes of one each for junior heifers, senior heifers, bulls and steers. Four animals will be in each class. In case of a tie, there will be a tiebreaker, at which point, a question will be asked of the contestant. Results will be announced at the Youth Banquet and awards will be presented. Hall of Fame points will be awarded for the top three in each division. • 1st 100 points • 2nd 50 points • 3rd 25 points Volunteers are needed for group leaders and helpers. The entry deadline is June 7, 2007 and the fee is $5. To receive an entry form for the Judging Contest, contact the TLBAA office or view E-Trails. You Could Win A Heifer! In order to enter, you must have participated in at least one affiliate-sponsored youth show. You will be interviewed by a judging committee regarding: your knowledge of the Texas Longhorn breed, familiarity with your project, ability to respond spontaneously and sincerity of responses will be important considerations. There are thee parts to the Gold Merit Contest: 1. Public Speaking 2. Interview 3. Project Book Winners of the following four divisions will receive Texas Longhorn heifers donated by TLBAA members.
