Governor of Oklahoma Declares October 1-3, 2015 “Horn Showcase Days”

In 1964, the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association was started by a group of Texas Longhorn breeders in Lawton, Oklahoma. In its 51st year, the organization is bringing one of their annual events back home. The 16th Annual Horn Showcase will be held October 1-3, 2015 at Great Plains Coliseum in Lawton. This historic event’s journey back to its birthplace has led Governor Fallin to declare October 1-3, 2015 ‘Horn Showcase Days’ in the state of Oklahoma.

More than 500 spectators and over 200 head of Texas Longhorn cattle are expected to arrive on Wednesday for the official horn-measuring event. The competition begins at 8:00 AM on Thursday morning with the measuring of the female classes and a futurity. Thursday’s schedule includes a fashion show by Crutcher’s Western Wear, free seminars on cattle feed, nutrition, Texas Longhorn Beef, and more. Bull Alley, a showcase of some of the top Texas Longhorn bulls starts at 6:30 PM.

Bull measurement will begin on Friday with the continuation of the futurity and educational seminars, as well as a Breeders Roundtable discussion. Friday evening kicks off with a bred & owned heifer sale and will be topped off with the Heritage of Horns Gala, a fun-filled evening with dinner, drinks, and dancing. Tickets are $35 in advance, or $50 at the door. Please call (817) 625-6241 to reserve your tickets to the gala.

The Horn Showcase will conclude on Saturday morning with the Horn Showcase Sale and Brunch beginning at 10:00 AM. The Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America would like to personally invite everyone to come out and get up close and personal with the majestic Texas Longhorn, learn more about the breed, and have a great time! Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
